In football, every sprint, every change of direction, every acceleration starts with ground contact.
When we ask players what the most important part of the body is for speed, most talk about legs, core, or conditioning. Those matter—but they’re missing one key piece: the foot.
If your foot isn’t strong and properly activated, you lose efficiency before the movement even begins.
In this video, we show you a simple 5-minute foot activation routine you can add to your warm-up to improve:
- Acceleration
- Speed
- Reactive strength
- Change of direction
The drills are easy to integrate and should be done when your body is fresh—right at the start of your session.
If you use this consistently 2–3 times per week, you’ll start to feel the difference on the pitch.
At Tanner Speed Academy, we work with professional players, youth athletes, and teams to develop speed where it actually matters.
