I have been using heart rate for training since 2021 as a way to keep my easy runs easy. I target a heart rate under my MAF and nearer to zone 2 though I struggle to do this consistently.
The athletes in Kapchorwa do the majority of their training as easy runs and do 3 speed/higher intensity sessions per week (track/fartlek/tempo/long runs). I was interested to see their heart rates on their easy runs and whether it supports the consensus on zone 2 training.
